Melissa Morgan, IBCLC, RLC, CLE — Hello!  Thanks for visiting!.  I am an International Board Certified Registered Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Certified Lactation Educator (CLE).
My philosophy for lactation practice focuses on helping families understand what is biologically normal throughout pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and parenthood.  When help for breastfeeding is needed, I work with you to make personalized plans to meet your individual needs.
I began my lactation career in 1998 when the birth of my oldest son prompted the need for breastfeeding help and I met a lactation consultant who became integral in shaping my role as both a mother and as a lactation consultant.  During my internship, I attended the Evergreen Perinatal Lactation Educator (CLE) program and began assisting and counseling families in the support group and consult setting, helping with basic breastfeeding and more complex consultations.  I then went on to become a La Leche League Leader in 2007, starting and facilitating a mother-to-mother support group in Liberty Lake, WA.  In 2010, I had acquired over4,000 clinical contact hours and finally sat for the the IBLCE examincation, earning my IBCLC certification.
I immediately opened my private practice, Nurture Normally Lactation, which is now rebranded as Flow Feeding, serving families in Spokane, Spokane Valley, Liberty Lake,  Post Falls, Hayden, and Coeur d’Alene.  When my youngest child started kindergarten in 2012, I began offering lactation services full-time.  I have developed a specialty in helping families with tongue tie and I also enjoy meeting the specialized needs of the adopting family.
Now, in addition to helping families feed their babies, I mentor lactation students and constultants and provide professional lactation education to physicians, midwives, doulas, and other healthcare practitioners.  I have served as co-president of the Spokane County Breastfeeding Coalition, served families in public health at WIC in North Idaho, sat on committees within the United States Lactation Sonsultants Association (USLCA), and maintain membership in several professional organizations.  I also have written articles for local health and lifestyle magazines, as well as local and national blogs.
I am also co-founder of Lactation Practice, a consulting and billing service that assists private practice lactation professionals with tools to run their own lactation practices and have presented at such prestigious conferences as the United States Lactation Consultants Association (USLCA), GOLD Lactation, and the Canadian Lactation Consultants Association (CLCA) on subjects pertaining to operating a lactation practice..
I have three children, all of whom were exclusively breastfed until about age two, and I live in Eastern Washington where I enjoy berry picking hikes, yoga (teaching and practicing), live music, paddle boarding, and chasing waterfalls.
I look forward to meeting and serving your family.
Warmly,
Melissa
